iSpiice (Integrated Social Programs in India Child Education), is a charity that offers voluntary placements for working holidays (and offers 50%) off for Students, but of course anyone can join in. Volunteers are placed in Dharamsala local community set amid the natural beauty of the Himalaya mountains. There is such a variety of placements to get involved that no day is ever the same. Volunteers will usually choose two to three programs to become involved with during their stay.
Whilst helping the children learn, you will also be learning of the culture and tradition of the region. iSpiice also incorporates tours into the working holiday of hiking the mountains, the Golden Temple, Manali and the famous Taj Mahal. So you really get a flavour for India.
There is the opportunity to really make a positive impact on the lives of those you meet, and what maybe weeks to months, the difference you make will last you and those whose lives you touch - a lifetime.

There are a number of voluntary programs to choose from (list from iSpiice website):
* teaching English to street children
* teaching English in community day care centre’s
*teaching English in schools
* women empowerment projects
* community health care projects
* renovation of local institutions
Spending time with children in centres and orphanages the greatest gift you can give them is your time. From reading a story, singing a song, colouring in, teaching them the alphabet or just playing games - all activities are stimulating learning and development and benefit the children hugely. You may wish to work the street children and help them with english and IT skills so there changes of finding work and getting off the streets is increased dramatically.
Volunteering child care programs include the following tasks and more:
- Encouraging more children to visit the care centers
- Talking to parents about the healthy activities for children at the care centers
- Helping in the preparation of delicious and nourishing foods for children
- Serving meals for the children
- Coming up with creative games and songs for the children’s playtime
- Coming up with innovative ways to make the daycare centers livelier for the children through
- decorations.
- Narrating captivating tales for children to refresh their minds.
- Teaching children about basic hygiene and how to take care of themselves and their environment.
